Work Sharp Infomercial -- Worth it?And is the WS3000 really a full 1000 better than the WS2000?I happened to catch an informercial tonight about the Work Sharp 2000 sharpening system. The system is from the same company that brought out the Drill Doctor, so if you think of a Drill Doctor for sharpening cutting surfaces like blades and chisels, you'll understand the principle. The hard plastic body encloses a motor with a vertical shaft holding a two sided platter. The platter has slots cut through it, so that when it spins at high speed, you can see through it (think of how easily you can see the brake caliper on a car when it's rolling vs. when it is sitting still.) There are several grits of adhesive-backed sandpaper that you stick onto the platter. There are three rests that allow the user to hold the tools against the platters at various angles. I googled the Work Sharp and was surprised by the universally positive reviews. |
